1. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use FaceLock on one laptop for the period you’ve paid for, for personal or work use. You may move the licence to a new laptop, which switches it off on the old one, up to three times a year yourself and more often through support. Don’t resell or share licences, and don’t try to get around licensing or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.
2. Free trial
Every feature is free for 7 days, one trial per laptop. You don’t need a card, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.
3. Price and payment
A licence costs US$15 a year, charged in Indian rupees (₹1,299) through our payment partner Easebuzz. If your card isn’t in rupees, your bank converts it and may add its own fee. The amount shown on the payment page is the amount you pay. Licences don’t renew automatically: we don’t store your card, and you choose whether to renew.
4. Refunds
Because you can try everything free for 7 days before you buy, payments are non-refundable once made, except where the law requires a refund. If something has gone wrong, for example you were charged twice or your key won’t activate, email [email protected] and we’ll put it right.
5. When a licence ends
After 365 days, or when a trial ends, FaceLock stops protecting until you renew: lid and wake lock, app lock, walk-away lock and locking new items switch off. Files, folders and photos you’ve already locked always stay openable with your face, Windows Hello / Touch ID, PIN or recovery key. Renewing adds a year from the later of today or your current expiry date.
6. Your recovery key and your data
FaceLock encrypts your files, and only your keys can open them. Keep your recovery key safe: we don’t have a copy and can’t recover your files without it. As with any tool that changes files, keep backups of anything important.
7. What FaceLock is, and isn’t
FaceLock adds a layer of protection on top of your operating system. It doesn’t replace your OS sign-in, and webcam face matching is a convenience gate that a video replay or a mask may defeat. Our security page explains the limits, and you should choose your settings with them in mind.
8. No warranty
FaceLock is provided “as is”. We work hard to make it reliable and secure, but to the extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will be error-free or prevent every kind of access.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to FaceLock is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data or profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
10. Changes
We may update FaceLock and these terms. If a change to the terms materially affects you, we’ll update the date above and, for paid licences, apply it from your next renewal where the law requires.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer elsewhere, you keep any protections your local law gives you.
