Install

Two minutes, start to finish.

FaceLock 0.1 is brand new, so it isn’t signed by Microsoft or notarized by Apple yet. Your system will ask you to confirm once. Here’s exactly what you’ll see.

Windows

  1. Open FaceLock-0.1.0-windows-x64-setup.exe from your Downloads folder.
  2. If you see “Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen), click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer. FaceLock opens when it’s done and adds itself to the tray.
  4. Enrol your face, set a PIN and save your recovery key. Your 7-day trial starts now.
Why the SmartScreen warning?

SmartScreen warns about any new app that isn’t code-signed yet or hasn’t been downloaded many times. It doesn’t mean something is wrong with FaceLock. The warning goes away once our builds are signed.

macOS

  1. Open FaceLock-0.1.0-macos-universal.dmg and drag FaceLock into Applications.
  2. The first time, open it like this:
    • macOS 12–14: in Applications, right-click (or Control-click) FaceLock, choose Open, then Open again.
    • macOS 15 and later: open FaceLock once and close the warning. Then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then confirm with your password.
  3. Allow camera access when macOS asks. FaceLock adds itself to the menu bar.
  4. Enrol your face, set a PIN and save your recovery key. Your 7-day trial starts now.
Why the Gatekeeper prompt?

Version 0.1 isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm you trust it. You only do this once. Later versions will be notarized.
